Cards & Decks

Decks

Decks are collections of cards. A deck is useful for:

  • organizing cards by topic
  • studying a curated subset (in future versions)
  • tracking where a card “belongs”

Cards

Cards simply have:

  • a Front
  • a Back
  • a stable identity

Add a card

Option 1: Create a card from scratch

Open a deck and use “Add a card”:

  • pick a Format (Markdown or LaTeX, pick Markdown if you are unsure)
  • write Front and Back
  • click Create

This is the fastest way to add one-off flashcards.

Option 2: Generate cards from notes

Cards are usually generated from notes. See ARMS Document Syntax for details. This is the most powerful way to create cards, it allows you to write study note and produce cards at the same time: avoiding writing notes then wasting a lot of time doing repetitive card creation work.

Deleting cards

Deleting a card is soft:

  • the card is marked as deleted and appears deleted
  • optionally, you can choose to delete the content as well
  • its relation with deck are removed
  • study history is always preserved (so the card study progress can be restored later by UUID)

If you later add the same card UUID again (for example by regenerating from a note), you can recover scheduling continuity.
